The Town of Schodack Police Department has made an arrest in a personal injury hit-and-run motor vehicle accident which occurred on September 11, 2012.
The accident occurred at around 9:00 pm on a Tuesday night. A 17 year old male and his 14 year old friend were walking on Scott Avenue just east of Village of Castleton when a vehicle struck the 17 year old male. The young man was treated at the scene for injuries to his left hand, buttocks, and pelvic area. The youth’s parents later took him to an unspecified hospital for additional treatment. The operator of the vehicle fled the scene.
Investigating officers recovered evidence at the scene of the accident and were able to use that evidence to locate the vehicle.
Arrested was Louis Avellino, 50 of Castleton. He was changed with Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree, Reckless Driving, Assault 3rd degree, Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident, and imporper lane usage. Avellino was arraigned before Town Justice Peter and released on his own recognizance.
His next court appearance is schedule for October 10th at 6:00 pm.
