Schodack Police investigate stabbing, make arrest for assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and menacing

On February 5, 2018 The Town of Schodack Police Department investigated an assault at the Dunkin Donuts bakery at 1792 Columbia Tupike in Schodack. Two male employees were involved in an argument and one stabbed the other. The suspect fled the scene in a car while a third male drove the victim to Albany Memorial Hospital ER. The suspect, Delroy Smith, 53 of 100 Harry Howard Road, Hudson, NY was apprehended by New York State Police in Kinderhook a short time after the incident. Smith has been charged with assault 1st degree and criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree (felonies) and menacing 2nd degree (misdemeanor). New York State Police at Troop G Zone 1 headquarters worked with Schodack Police on this incident. Smith was arraigned in the Town of Schodack Justice court and remanded to Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of $15,000.00 bail. Smith is scheduled to appear in town court on February 9, 2018 at 5pm for a preliminary hearing.
