motor vehicle accident leads to DWAI Drugs arrest

On December 25, 2014 at around 3:15 am The Town of Schodack Police Department arrested Nathaniel J. Quinn, 19 of 242 Schodack Drive, Castleton, NY for DWAI Drugs, leaving the scene of a property damage auto accident, unreasonable speed, failure to keep right, and unsafe lane change. Officers responded to 242 Schodack Drive for a report of a property damage auto accident. The defendants mother reports that he had been operating her vehicle and had been involved in a motor vehicle accident on the way home. The defendants mother reported that she believed that Quinn was under the influence of drugs at the time and reported this to police. Accident occurred a short way from Quinns residence where the defendant left the roadway and struck a fence and a tree. Interview by Officer Harrington revealed that Quinn had glossy eyes, slurred speech, and impaired motor coordination. Officer Harrington conducted field sobriety tests and Quinn failed the tests. Officers contacted Rensselaer Police and requested assistance from Sgt. Deso who is a certified drug recognition expert. Sgt. Deso conducted an evaluation of Quinn at Schodack Police headquarters. Members of Bruen Rescue Squad secured a blood sample for evidence at the request of Officer Harrington. The defendant was released to his mother on traffic tickets. Quinn is scheduled to appear in Town of Schodack Court on January 14, 2014 at 6:00 pm
