Press Release Larceny Arrests

The Town of Schodack Police Department with assistance from the Town of East Greenbush Police Department arrested three individuals in connection with a string of scrap metal and salvage thefts in town. On August 19, 2011 at around 3:00 am in the Village of Castleton, Detective James Morgan and Officer Richard Eckel noticed the suspect vehicle in the area of the former Fort Orange Paper Company site. This vehicle had been identified in several prior larcenies of scrap metal in various locations within the town. This investigation led to discovery of an active burglary within the Fort Orange Paper Company site. Town of East Greenbush police Sergeant Eest Tubbs and Officers Christopher Adams and Nicholas Peter of the Town of East Greenbush Police Department responded to assist Schodack officers.

Arrested were:

1) Mark Joseph Soroko age 44 of Rensselaer, NY for Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of stolen property in the 5th degree, and Petit Larceny.

2) Kathina Marie Duncan age 31 of Clifton Park, NY for Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of stolen property in the 5th degree, and Petit Larceny.

3) Matthew David Stewart age 34 of Rensselaer, NY for Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of stolen property in the 5th degree, and Petit Larceny.

Each defendant was arraigned before Town of Schodack Justice Paul Peter and remanded to Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of $5,000.00 bail.
