On September 25, 2014 The Town of Schodack Police Department arrested George Ertel, Jr, 27 of 429 McClellan Road, Nassau, NY for Burglary 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Petit Larceny, and Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument. Officer Eckel was on patrol when he observed a suspicious vehicle parked partially on the road in front of 864 Maple Hill Road. Officer Eckel discovered Ertel standing on the lawn of the residence with a pile of copper pipe in the front yard and in the the bed of his truck. Further investigation by Officer Eckel revealed that Ertel had forced entry to the residence and removed the copper pipe from inside. Additionally, Ertel was wanted on a bench warrant out of the City of Troy. Ertel was arrested and arraigned before Town of Schodack Justice Peter and remanded to Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of $25,000.00 bail. Ertel is due back in Town of Schodack Justice Court on October 1, 2014 at 5:30 pm for a preliminary hearing.
