On August 17th, 2016 the Schodack Police Department arrested 42 year old Andrew P. Scace of Valatie, New York. Mr. Scace was observed by a Schodack Police officer traveling above the posted speed limit on State Route 9. Mr. Scace was operating a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle at the time. When an attempt was made to stop Mr. Scace he accelerated to an unsafe speed in an effort to flee from the officer. Mr. Scace fled from two officers, however; due to unsafe speeds on a rural road with several sharp tus and steep hills the officers terminated attempting to stop Mr. Scace. The officers continued to check the area and located the motorcycle as well as Mr. Scace a short while later after he ran off the roadway and into a tree suffering only minor injuries. Mr. Scace was subsequently arrested without further incident. After being treated by emergency medical services further investigation showed Mr. Scace was three times the legal limit after a blood alcohol content analysis showed he had 0.24% BAC which is far beyond the state operating limit of a 0.08% BAC. Mr. Scace was released on his own recognizance to return back to the Schodack Town Court on 09/14/2016 for his next appearance. Mr. Scace faces five misdemeanor charges, including Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (BAC above 0.18%) and Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle. Mr. Scace was also issued several tickets for Vehicle and Traffic Law infractions.
