Zone 14 Law Enforcement Academy Graduation

On Saturday April 7, 2018, the Zone 14 Law Enforcement Academy held graduation exercises at Columbia-Greene Community College in Hudson New York. 11 new police officers graduated from the academy. Among the graduates was Town of Schodack Police Officer Anthony Belardo. Officer Belardo will serve a three month in service training period.

Failure to Verify Address Arrest

On March 14th, 2018 the Schodack Police Department arrested 40 year old Michael Jones of Schodack, NY. Mr. Jones was arrested after a joint investigation was conducted with New York State Parole where Mr. Jones was found to have not verified his address as he is required to do as a Level 3 Sex Offender. He was charged with a class D Felony under Corrections Law and remanded without bail to the Rensselaer County Jail.

Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree Arrest

On March 14th, 2018 the Schodack Police Department arrested 24 year old Harold Wolfersteig of Castleton, NY. Mr. Wolfersteig was found to be violating a full stay away order of protection and was charged with the misdemeanor of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree. He was released on his own recognizance and will appear back in the Schodack Town Court.

False Personation Arrest

On March 10th, 2018 the Schodack Police Department arrested 51 year old Dawn Bartholomew of Castleton, NY. SPD was investigating a disturbance at the Castle Hill Senior Housing building and Ms. Bartholomew knowingly gave a false name and date of birth to the investigating officer in an attempt to hinder the discovery of an active warrant out of the Albany Police Department. She was arrested, processed and issued an appearance ticket for the misdemeanor of False Personation due to appear in the Schodack Town Court on 04/04/2018 at 06:00 PM. She was tued over to APD on their warrant.

Investigation leads to arrest for Criminal Sexual Act and Sexual Abuse

Schodack Police Department arrested of Kevin A. Andrews, 54 of 259 Schodack Drive, Castleton, NY for Criminal Sexual act 1st degree, sexual abuse 1st degree (Felonies), forcible touching, sexual misconduct, and endangering the welfare of a child (misdemeanors). Andrews arrest follows an investigation into allegations he had sexual contact with a child less than 11-years-old on March 10, 2018. Andrews was released on a $10,000.00 bail bond. Andrews is scheduled to return to Town of Schodack Justice Court on March 14, 2018 at 6:00 pm. The New York State Police and the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office assisted Schodack Police officers. DWAI Arrest

On March 4th, 2018 the Schodack Police Department arrested 67 year old Richard Janke of Nassau, NY. Mr. Janke was stopped on State Route 20 for speeding. His BAC was .06%. He was released with traffic tickets for Driving While Intoxicated and Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol due to appear in the Schodack Town Court on 03/07/2018 at 06:00 PM.

Domestic Dispute leads to multiple charges

On February 22nd, 2018 the Schodack Police Department arrested 24 year old Harold Wolfersteig of Schodack, NY. Mr. Wolfersteig was arrested after officers were dispatched to a domestic dispute. Mr. Wolfersteig damaged his girlfriends vehicle with a hammer in violation of a no illegal contact order of protection and was also repeatedly obstructing traffic while officers were attempting to interview all parties. He was arrested and charged with the misdemeanors of Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree, Criminal Contempt in the second degree, a the violation of Disorderly Conduct. He was remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail with bail due to appear back in the Schodack Town Court.

Criminal Contempt 1st Arrest

On February 12th, 2018 the Schodack Police Department arrested 29 year old Bryana Washock of Schodack, NY. Ms. Washock was arrested after an ex-boyfriend reported her sending harassing text messages to him in violation of a full stay away order of protection that was recently put into place stemming from another domestic incident. Ms. Washock was processed at the Schodack Police Department and charged with the felony of Criminal Contempt in the First degree. She was arraigned in the Schodack Town Court and released on her own recognizance due to appear at a later date.

Traffic stop leads to felony drug arrest

On February 18, 2018 at around 10 pm in the area of exit 12 on the westbound side of I90, Schodack Police stopped a vehicle for speeding. An interview and investigation led to the arrest of Owen M. Bassick, 19 of Norfolk, NY and Brian R. Karsberg, 19 of Medway, MA. Karsberg was the passenger in the vehicle. He was arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th degree (misdemeanor) and unlawful possession of marijuana (violation). Bassick was the driver of the vehicle. He was arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance 5th degree (felony), criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th degree (misdemeanor), unlawful possession of marijuana (violation), and speeding in zone (infraction). Both Bassick and Karsberg were arraigned in Town of Schodack Court. Bassick was remanded to Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of $1000.00 cash bail or $2500.00 bail bond. Bassick was scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Town of Schodack Court on 02/22/2018 at 1:00pm. Karsberg was released to Rensselaer County Probation Day Reporting and scheduled to reappear in Town of Schodack Court on 03/14/2018 at 6:00pm.

Assault 2nd Degree

On January 25th, 2018 the Schodack Police Department arrested 31 year old Tabetha Drew of Schodack, NY. Ms. Drew was arrested after being involved in a physical altercation at the Four Seasons Motel where she had caused serious physical injury to a patron at the motel. She was arrested and charged with the felony of Assault in the 2nd degree. She was released on her own recognizance due to appear back in the Schodack Town Court on 02/14/2018 at 06:00 PM.
